*REPORTS TO:* Director of Technology *JOB GOAL:* The Business Operations Specialist (BOS) is a position within Business Services that is designated to perform multiple functions for a variety of departments within BSD2’s Administration.
Departments that the BOS role regularly supports in addition to Business Services includes; Human Resources (HR), Payroll, and Technology.
Project Management and Problem Solving are central functions, critical to the BOS’s success across the departments served.
Responsibilities include; assessing projects/software for limitations and problematic issues, identifying economical and efficient solutions/systems, training BSD2 staff, data collection/data analysis and report development, communicating directly with vendors.
The common statement of “Other duties as assigned” is considered an essential function for the BOS role, which is often called upon to support other BSD2 administrative areas (Accounts Receivable, Tuition, Benefits, and Executive & District Secretaries).

*RESPONSIBILITIES AND DUTIES:* The Business Operations Specialist is expected to perform all duties and responsibilities as described, in a professional and appropriate manner that is reflective of the Mission, Vision and Values of Billings School District #2.
In addition, these expectations, other duties and responsibilities may be assigned to the Business Operations Specialist.
Project Management: Manage multiple projects across multiple departments.
Requires meetings and discussions with applicable department staff and administrators to learn about processes, current issues and urgent demands.
Prioritize and create an improved process and make recommendations to administrators.
Research capabilities and updates of current or new software, obtain quotes for purchases as required.
Troubleshooting software/system implementation and revising if necessary.
Communicating with staff, management and administrators regarding software/system implementation and following changes and updates.
Manage vendor support hours purchased for BSD2 software: Powerschool, etc.
Schedule or provide training for staff.
Assist with the implementation of updates or new software programs, and document new processes to support implementation.
Management and Troubleshooting Powerschool Errors: As employees discover problems/errors, receive request for assistance and respond in a timely manner to troubleshoot (often with the employee).
Determine if a support-ticket must be submitted to Powerschool and monitor the resolution.
Serve as Business Office Support Staff: Respond when called upon or tasked with streamlining processes or researching alternative methods for operations.
Communicating with External Contacts: Communicating with people outside the district, representing the district or applicable department while engaging with the public, government, and other external sources.
These communications can be exchanges in person, in writing, or by telephone or e-mail.
Monitor software, processes, and materials and reviewing information from software, processes, and materials to detect or assess problems.
Evaluating Information to Determine Compliance with Standards: Using relevant information and individual judgment to determine whether events or processes comply with laws, regulations, or standards.
