Req # 4347 DEPARTMENT: Nutrition Services REPORTS TO: Director of Nutrition Services JOB SUMMARY The Cook is responsible for all the meal preparation at breakfast, lunch and dinner for the hospital, LTCC, CMC and cafeteria.
OFFERING SIGN-ON BONUS! JOB REQUIREMENTS High School graduate or equivalent preferred.
EXPERIENCE At least two years institutional cooking experience, preferably hospital experience.
SKILLS Knowledge of special diets.
Quantity cookery skills.
Must be able to adjust recipes to desired quantity.
Must be able to function as a team member, work and communicate well with others.
REQUIRED CERTIFICATIONS ServSafe preferred ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS Prepare items that are palatable and appetizing in appearance for meals and catering.
Avoid food waste by using proper portion control, appropriate handling of leftovers, and by preparing only what is needed.
Read, selects and prepares any special diets needed.
Meet time schedules for cafeteria, hospital and LTCC meal service.
Serve hospital tray line at breakfast, lunch and dinner.
Serve LTCC breakfast, lunch and dinner.
Care for and clean equipment properly to avoid or damage.
Notify supervisor immediately when equipment is lost, damaged, or malfunctioning.
Know and understand portion sizes and modified diets; consult dietitians if necessary.
Use safety methods in transporting hot cart and during golf cart use.
Follow proper sanitation skills and rules at all times.
Responsible for cleaning own work area, equipment and ovens.
May be assigned general cleaning or special cleaning projects.
Turn on all needed equipment and make sure it is plugged in the a.

Take food to cafeteria.
Go through food in cook’s walk-in and label and date all foods.
Throw out any leftovers dated past 48 hours.
May be requested to perform other related duties for which the individual is qualified.
Label, date, and over all food in walk-ins and freezers.
Discard all leftovers according to policy.
SECONDARY FUNCTIONS Answer phone, take and relay messages fill requests.
Attend all department meetings and in-services.
