*POSITION SUMMARY:*
Come be a part of our team of dedicated educators! Sunrise Montessori School serves children from three-years-old through 6th grade.
*We are looking for an assistant teacher for one of our elementary classrooms.
*The Assistant Teacher will assist the Lead Teacher in creating a warm, safe, healthy and nurturing classroom environment where self-direction is enhanced, independence encouraged and individuality respected.
The Assistant Teacher works with the Lead to support the social, emotional, physical and cognitive growth of both the individual child and the class as a whole.
*Although prior experience with children is helpful, we are looking for an individual who is patient, enthusiastic, reliable and willing to learn.
*
*POSITION DETAILS:*
* Recess and lunch duties at assigned times
* Support the lead teacher with transition times (getting students ready to go outside, washing hands, lining up)
* Light classroom cleaning
* Guides children in positive choices and independence in their environment
* Works as a team with co-teachers
* Embraces the Montessori approach and the Sunrise Montessori mission statement

*QUALIFICATIONS:*
Assistant teacher must meet the following basic requirements:
* CPR/First Aid certification (can be obtained upon hire)
* A clear record through background check
* Have the physical capacity to work with elementary aged children (lift up to 40 lbs)
* Willingness to be trained in the basics of the Montessori philosophy'
