Leads a team of medical, mental health, medical lab, and wellness professionals, as well as supports staff who oversee and administer the delivery of campus-based health services.
Oversees program quality management, risk management, regulatory compliance, accreditation, resource management, and professional development activities for Health Services.
Represents Health Services to internal and external constituencies regarding student health, healthcare policy, and public health issues.
Provides vison and leadership for communicable disease prevention and response.
Duties and Responsibilities Provide direction and vision for Student Health Services (SHS) Provide executive leadership and strategic direction for Student Health Services that are in alignment with the University Strategic Plan to meet the health care and wellness needs of the student population in a proactive fashion which reinforces responsible self-care.
Continually evaluate college student health trends, and when necessary, implement changes in services and programs to best serve students and develop proactive approaches to student care, mental health, and wellness at both the University and City College campus.
Serve as a member of the Student Access and Success Directors Team to connect SHS programs and services to the recruitment and retention efforts of the division.
Address current health and wellness issues confronting college students.
Manage risk in partnership with other MSUB leaders, such as the Director of Environmental Health and Safety, University Police, Facilities Services and members of the campus Incident Management Team.
Foster a strong commitment to inclusion, fostering appreciation of diversity and the provision of culturally competent and equitable patient care and workplace practices.
Staff supervision and development Supervise (hire, orient, train, schedule, coach, manage) direct reports.
Provide departmental structure for the on-boarding, off-boarding, and development experiences of all departmental staff.
Ensure compliance with AAAHC, ethical codes, state and federal laws (i.
e.
, FERPA), university and applicable MUS System Health Care policies.
Daily operations and management Maintain and update appropriate policy and procedural guidelines, consistent with law and informed by best practices.
Develop and steward annual operating budget.
Liaison with MSUB shared services to ensure consistency in policy compliance, workflow, and process across the institution (i.
e.
, Business Services, Financial Services, Information Technology, University Communications and Marketing, and Human Resources).
Identify and resolve issues, manage change, and escalate issues to achieve desired outcome.
Programs and Services Collaborate with academic programs (i.
e.
, Biology, Nursing, Rehabilitation and Human Services, etc.
,) to serve as a site for undergraduate and graduate student internship experiences.
Develop and implement marketing and promotional strategies to ensure students are knowledgeable of SHS and can easily access/utilize the services available on both campuses.
Provide direction and management of the medical care services and be responsible for the implementation of the medical care contracts, nursing services, and all functions related to the medical services within SHS.
Ensure proper implementation of the requirements for immunization records for all students, including the unique needs of international students.
Provide direction and management of mental health services for students including individual counseling, group counseling, and proactive programming and outreach in relation to current mental health issues and trends facing college students.
Provide direction and management of wellness and health education through student wellness programs and services, including the OCHE Prevention Education Training Provide direction and management of the clinical testing laboratory, ensuring compliance with all applicable laws, procedures, and protocols.
Provide management and direction for the administration functions of the office operations, including scheduling, medical record management, technology, etc.
In collaboration with the Medical Director and Director of Environmental Health and Safety, ensure appropriate health-related emergency preparedness and response, and provide institutional leadership in matters of student and public health issues that impact the University.
Participate in and represent the University and Student Health Services in regional and national networks and organizations, i.
e.
, the Rocky Mountain College Health Association and the American College Health Association.
Provide overall direction, management, and compliance with accreditation requirements through the Accreditation Association for Ambulatory Health Care.
