GENERAL DESCRIPTION:

The Wyoming Retirement Center is seeking a qualified individual to fill the position of Director of Nursing.
This position is responsible for implementing guidelines of domiciliary care and skilled nursing homes.
The position also ensures that the nursing staff is adhering to professional standards in delivering nursing care and works with the Facility Administrator, the Interdisciplinary Team, and other department heads to ensure the quality of care for the residents.
This position is also responsible for maintaining nursing care continuity during evenings, days, nights, and weekends.

Develops, implements, and evaluates administrative and regulatory policies/procedures.
Develop a Quality Improvement program to evaluate current operations.
Assesses, evaluates, and implements care plans and processes for the appropriate patient care of residents.
Listens and counsels residents and/or residents' family members about residents' health or other concerns.
Assists on the floor.
Directs, instructs, counsels, and supervises nursing staff including disciplinary action as necessary.
Qualifications PREFERENCES: Preference may be given to applicants with a minimum of one (1) year of Director of Nursing/Nurse Manager experience (preferably in long-term care).
KNOWLEDGE: Knowledge of scope of practice for multiple health care provider types (RN, LPN, CNA, MA-C).
Knowledge of Wyoming Nurse Practice Act and Standards of Nursing Practice.
Knowledge of MDS requirements.
Knowledge of Quality Improvement/Quality Assurance methods.
Knowledge of budgetary procedures and the ability to provide input into the budgetary process and maintain operations within the assigned budget.
Ability to assess and monitor residents' health needs and care.
Ability to organize and communicate.
Ability to resolve conflicts.
Ability to manage stressful situations.
Ability to cover shifts as necessary.
MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS: Education: Bachelor's Degree (typically in Nursing) Experience: 2-4 years of progressive work experience (typically in Nursing) with acquired knowledge at the level of a Nurse Manager I Certificates, Licenses, Registrations: Must be licensed or eligible for licensure as a Registered Nurse (RN) in the State of Wyoming OR Education & Experience Substitution: 5-7 years of progressive work experience (typically in Nursing) with acquired knowledge at the level of a Nurse Manager I Certificates, Licenses, Registrations: Must be licensed or eligible for licensure as a Registered Nurse (RN) in the State of Wyoming Necessary Special Requirements PHYSICAL WORKING CONDITIONS: Must be able to work evenings, nights, and /or weekends as necessary.
Must be able to lift up to 50 lbs.
NOTES: FLSA: Exempt This position is an At-Will position per State of Wyoming Personnel Rules, Chapter 2, Section 9(d).
A background check, including the taking of fingerprints, will be completed through the Wyoming Department of Criminal Investigation, the Department of Family Services, and the Federal Bureau of Investigation for every successful applicant.
Pre-employment drug testing will be conducted on safety-sensitive positions (direct patient care positions are considered safety-sensitive).
Drug and alcohol testing will be conducted on any position if reasonable suspicion exists.
For the health and protection of the persons we care for, annual influenza vaccination is required, as well as annual testing for tuberculosis.
