DOWL is seeking a Projects Communication Intern to join our dynamic and collaborative public involvement group.
As a Projects Communication Intern, you will assist our Project Communications staff in developing and delivering public relations activities for community improvement projects including transportation, water, airport, and community planning design projects.
This includes the development of communications materials, planning and hosting of events, and engagement with members of the community.
Job Responsibilities and Duties
Conduct online research on project topics, stakeholders, and best practices
Assist in developing and maintaining project databases, mailing lists, and contact records
Draft and edit project newsletters, fact sheets, flyers, web content, social media posts, and other communication materials
Support public involvement activities such as public meetings, workshops, open houses, surveys, and online engagement
Coordinate with project managers, clients, consultants, and vendors as needed
Perform other related duties as assigned

Education and/or Experience
High School Diploma or GED required
Currently enrolled in or recently graduated from a bachelor’s degree program in communication, journalism, public relations, planning, or a related field preferred.
Must have completed enough credits to be considered a junior
Certificates, Licenses, Registrations
Must have a valid driver’s license and a good driving record.
Job Knowledge, Skills and Abilities
Experience and knowledge of Microsoft Office (Outlook, Word, Excel) – Developing
Market Sector Software (Adobe Creative Suite) – Developing
Ability to prioritize special projects and daily workload to ensure that all work is completed in a timely and efficient manner
Attention to detail is key
Must be able to work both independently and within a team
