DESCRIPTION
The Engineering Test Technician is responsible for creating, organizing, and conducting the testing needed in the development of firearms, firearms accessories, and ammunition.
Assisting in the design and fabrication of prototypes, test equipment, and other manufacturing related items, and carefully documenting results and presenting findings.
They will work closely with the engineering and manufacturing teams to help create better processes and products.
ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES Cooperate and work efficiently in a team environment, and with other employees.
Conduct testing in accordance with SAAMI standards and company testing procedures.
Create and modify test procedures using the Engineering Change Notification process.
Prepare for tests.
Coordinate product needed test supplies and personnel.
Perform research and develop test plans and procedures.
Inspect products and processes and identify areas of improvement.
Collect data and manipulate information to provide relevant results from the testing.
Be able to organize test results into structured test report.
Train and certify employees needed for testing.
Responsible for safety, availability of first aid and emergency medical communication for offsite testing.
Calibration and maintenance of test equipment.
Estimate test costs and specify resources to be used.

Education & Experience Associates Degree or Certificate in firearms technology or engineering-based technology.
Training or coursework in the use and function of firearms.
Familiarity with the use and set-up of strain gauges, accelerometers, thermocouples, and other data acquisition equipment.
Competencies Computer skills including Excel or comparable software, word processing, etc.
Ability to accurately conduct tests from planning to report.
Ability to interpret test results and provide recommendations.
Must have strong analytical and critical thinking skills.
Excellent skills in interpersonal relationships, communication and teamwork.
Excellent communication and presentation skills with the ability to speak and communicate effectively with both management and production.
Work independently and possess a high level of self-motivation and initiative.
ACCOUNTABILITIES AND MEASURES Meet objective goals assigned during quarterly performance coaching.
Perform duties in a timely manner and report outcomes.
PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS While performing the duties of this job the employee is required to acknowledge: Working expectations: walk; sit; use hands to finger, handle, or feel objects, tools or controls; reach with hands and arms; climb stairs; balance; stoop, kneel, crouch or crawl; talk or hear; taste or smell.
The employee will be subject to prolonged standing.
The employee must be able to manipulate and assemble small parts.
